“Paithani weaving dates back to 200 BC. Traditional creative artistry and pain staking workmanship combine to form this unique cloth. Motifs on pallu are generally peacock, lotus, mango and other designs taken form Ajanta Caves. Its the sheer dedication of the weavers which has kept this legacy of fine art alive till today.” Courtesy Paithani site
The motive behind this preface is that I am carrying this glory of Maharashtra as Diwali Gift to my Angel Mom.. J Well I had a tough time picking up one for her as she already has a definite color on her mind which she had seen my cousin gifted on her marriage. As is always the case I dint get close to a Pathani sari of my moms preference in any of the Sari collections. With a days effort spent on perfect Paithani hunt all going in vain I had to return back with nothing in hand but distress, body pain, and a little tan. L L
But I cant give up easily on anything promised to my mom.! So Keeping aside my cousins sari I turned up again the following day with few options open and with little effort I finally opted for a Paithani which is not exactly how my Mom has envisaged it to be ! ;)
Waiting for my Moms first reactions on Paithani of my choice !! Will she like it, or repent on having left the choice on me! J J
I'll keep my fingers crossed till 5th Nov.
Keep Guessing as to which lucky one among the two will adore my moms wardrobe. J J
The Count Down has began..
Cheers,
Dably
